Searching for nutrition information online? The Internet is still the Wild Wild West when it comes to nutrition. It’s not always easy to know what’s reliable and trustworthy.
That’s about to change with the Nutrition Blog Network. This new Web site is a collection of blogs written by registered dietitians. The goal is to make it easier to find science-based nutrition information and to elevate the voice of registered dietitians online.
If you want to learn how you can safely lose those last 5 pounds, find healthy recipes for your family, lower your cholesterol, jumpstart a healthy lifestyle, seek solutions for your picky preschooler or learn what to eat when you’re pregnant, you can find what you’re looking by visiting the Nutrition Blog Network.
The new site features a collection of articles written by registered dietitians and a directory of food and nutrition blogs so you can search for the topic you’re interested in – ranging from pregnancy to senior nutrition, gluten-free to “green,” and diabetes to diet myths. It’s one of the best ways to know what RDs are talking about and how you can keep your finger on the pulse of the latest nutrition issues.
When browsing the blogosphere, look for blogs that display the Nutrition Blog Network badge. These bloggers are all registered dietitians and have met the established criteria to be accepted as members of the Nutrition Blog Network.
The Food and Nutrition Practice of Weber Shandwick provided the financial support to help launch and maintain the Network, although the public relations firm is not participating in the creation of the content and is not responsible for the information. Nutrition Blog Network was created by registered dietitians Janet Helm of Nutrition Unplugged and Lori Fromm, who are the administrators of the site.
